Hot and Cold Stone Massage Course – More Details
This Hot and Cold Stone Massage training course taught at Brighton Holistics is comprehensive and practical. Hot and Cold Stone Massage has become one of the most popular treatments. Working in harmony with massage, this technique uses warm stones, placed on the client’s body and in the therapists’ hands.
The heat gently penetrates the skin and muscles, helping the client to relax and de-stress in half the time. Essential oils can also be used, and other techniques like lymphatic drainage or reflexology can also benefit from thermal stone massage.
Hot Stone Massage is used to help treat medical problems and ease tension in the mind and works with the body to make it a holistic whole-body treatment. Using stones, the therapist can penetrate the muscle fibres at a deeper level than manual massage alone, allowing it to be more effective for your client.
During the course we will cover the following topics:
- What is hot and cold stone body massage,
- History of hot and cold stone massage,
- Heater layout,

You will need a model for this course.
As training is given in small groups, learners will be required to bring a model for each day of the training course, for you to practice the treatment on. Learners do not practise treatments on each other as this reduces the learning time by half. The model would not be required until 1.15 pm each day for the practical session. Please note that models are NOT permitted to sit through theory sessions. The reason for this is that the model can become a distraction to the other learners. It is the responsibility of the learner to supply the model NOTBrighton Holistics. Please note models must be over the age of 16.
Please bring a cold lunch with you (e.g. sandwiches, salad, etc.); we do not have any food preparation areas for the heating up of food, but we do have refrigeration facilities. Please avoid bringing food that has strong aromas as this is not only a training room but also a treatment room.
- Please bring some flip-flops or other indoor shoes with you to wear around the treatment room.
- Refreshments such as tea, fruit teas, coffee and water are all provided
Please also bring four large bath towels and three hand towels; these will be used by yourself during the practical training session. Please note that Brighton Holistics do not supply towels for training. We also recommend bringing a dressing gown or modesty wrap for your model to use while in the training room. For further information on modesty wraps please click here.
Brighton Holistics produces all its own training manuals, we don’t expect you to pay for a course and then have to pay for your training materials.
Training manuals will be downloadable to each learner via their online learning portal. These manuals will be available to you once your course has started. It will be the learner’s responsibility to download and save the training manuals within this time. Manuals can be read on all devices.
Certification for your course will be emailed to you once you have met the learning outcomes.
A maximum of four learners per class, this allows the tutor to monitor learners progress and development. As training is given in small groups, learners will be required to bring a model for each day of the training course, for you to practice the treatment on. Learners do not practice treatments on each other as this reduces the learning time by half. Please see the booking terms and conditions for information.
Brighton Holistics started teaching learners in 2006. We have become well known for our standard of education and training therapists to meet their full potential during this time. For us, a training school, we are incredibly passionate that every learner meets their full potential to become the best therapist they can be. During this time have won awards for our education standards and the service we offer our learners.
Our training team are handpicked because they have shown the qualities, we believe make them good tutors. Each tutor must have a minimum of three years of experience in the modality they are teaching and must be a practising therapist.
During your time with us, we maximise the learning time to make sure that you get as much practical time as possible. We tend to cover theory in the morning and practical in the afternoon. During your time with us, we make sure that all learning outcomes have been reached comfortably, ensuring that you have the confidence to deliver the modality you are studying.
We are one of the very few training schools that issue diploma certification and not basic CPD or course attendance certification. With this in mind, learners must submit case studies before a diploma certification can be issued. Completing case studies demonstrates to the assessor that you have fully understood the treatment, and if the assessor picks up from the case studies that you haven’t fully understood the treatment, this can then be addressed by ongoing support. Quality of therapy is so important to us as it will be for you and your therapy business.
