Welcome to Brighton Holistics and to life as a learner within our community.

All learners are encouraged to fully read our Learners Charter, enrolment declaration and learners agreement so that they know what they can expect at Brighton Holistics and what is expected of them.

We wish you every success in your studies and hope that you have a wonderful learners experience here at Brighton Holistics.

Our Learners Charter

Brighton Holistics is committed to supporting the experience of our learners as they work towards fulfilling their academic and personal potential.

The Learners Charter is a living reference point for our learners and team setting out our expectations, rights and responsibilities as members of the Brighton Holistics community. It gives an overview of how we work together to establish and maintain our unique learning and living culture. Our Learners Charter has been jointly developed by Brighton Holistics and Learners experiences; whereby Brighton Holistics works in partnership with learners on the continual implementation and development of the Learners Charter and the learners voice.

We work within a set of regulations, policies, terms and conditions and guidelines that determine how we operate. These ensure we follow best practice and meet our legal requirements in a range of key areas.

As a learner of Brighton Holistics, you are among individuals whom have studied on our programmes. Together with our accreditors, we offer access to high quality education that meets the needs of the complementary sector.

Our learners charter has been developed by Brighton Holistics from learners experiences and the voice of the learners. Setting out what we expect from one another in a partnership.

We believe that clear, mutual expectations will help to improve the quality of your student experience with us and ensure we focus on further enhancements.

Engagement

As a provider, we will:

  • Provide all information required for you to complete your programme of study.
  • Provide you with the learning materials and resources that allow you to engage successfully with your studies.
  • Provide opportunities for peer interaction.


As a learner, you will:

  • Take responsibility for your own learning, pursue your studies with a positive commitment and do your best.
  • Utilise the learning resources available to you on your programme of study.
  • Actively participate in any required learning activities and assessments for your programme.


Support

As a provider, we will:

  • Provide clear information concerning the level of academic support you will receive.
  • Take all reasonable measures to provide appropriate support where disabilities and/or access requirements may inhibit your learning.
  • Provide you with access to online resources required for study; the learners portal and online downloadable manuals.
  • Give you opportunities to provide feedback on the quality of our programmes and services.
  • Provide you with appropriate channels to voice any concerns you have throughout the course of your study.
  • Treat any complaints seriously and fairly, and respect confidentiality at all times.


As a learner, you will:

  • Make use of any information and exercises offered for your programme of study.
  • Inform us in good time of any access requirement so that we can consider how to meet your needs.
  • Seek advice if you are unhappy with any aspect of your study.


Responsibilities

As a provider, we will:

  • Provide an educational experience that is of a consistently high standard and in line with good academic practice.
  • Provide you with points of contact in case you have questions or need advice.
  • Ensure that assessment methods are appropriate and provide you with the opportunity to achieve the learning outcomes of your programme.
  • Provide a robust assessment system using suitable examiners, appointed by Brighton Holistics.
  • Publish assessment timetables before the assessment period is due to start.
  • Provide you with information on what is inappropriate and may constitute an assessment offence, for example, plagiarism and cheating in examinations, how to avoid it and the consequences of assessment offences.
  • Make all rules and regulations relating to your programme of study available to you, including those associated with assessments.
  • Provide you with your assessment results.
  • Evaluate the quality and standards offered to you at the school, as set out in the accreditation Framework.


As a learner, you will:

  • Pay the required fees by the published deadlines.
  • Be responsible for managing your time so that you submit work by the stipulated deadlines to avoid any penalties or delays to your progression.
  • Know the dates, times and location of your tutorials and assessments and arrive in plenty of time.
  • Follow any advice given in your programme information including, but not limited to, methods of academic writing, good practice of referencing and how to avoid plagiarism.
  • Ensure that you understand and comply with all rules and regulations relating to your programme of study. including procedures regarding your assessment
  • Comply with any expectations and procedures set by Brighton Holistics, as applicable.
  • Comply with the learners agreement to which you have signed into.


Respect

As a provider, we will:

  • Be courteous and respectful in our interactions with you on all platforms.
  • Provide equality of treatment for all regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief.
  • Respect your right to confidentiality.
  • Protect all the personal information you provide to us and be aware of all responsibilities in line with the Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Equality Acts.


As a learner, you will:

  • Be courteous and respectful in your interactions with Brighton Holistics team on all platforms.
  • Be considerate and respectful to our diverse community of learners, including the language you other relevant online platforms including social media.
  • Behave in an appropriate manner when taking exams, assessments and comply with all examination and assessment rules.

As a provider we will:

  • Keep you informed of any updates and changes that affect your programme of study.


As a learner you will:

  • Check regularly for correspondence from Brighton Holistics which is being sent to you via email, or on your learners portal.

Brighton Holistics Regulations

I hereby acknowledge that as a learner of Brighton Holistics I am bound by all the requirements which relate to me as a learner in force under the Learners Charter, Terms and Conditions, Learners Agreement, Policies and Regulations of Brighton Holistics as amended from time to time. I understand that these include the requirement that all outstanding academic debts to the Brighton Holsitics are paid by the agreed schedule before an award/certification can be confirmed and that for serious breaches of regulations the penalties may include termination of enrolment.

Statement of Policy regarding the Data Protection Act 2018

I understand that Brighton Holistics processes my personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018 (UK) as applicable, in the circumstances described below:

As a general principle, information collected about learners will be stored as part of Brighton Holistics records only for as long as it is needed and used only for achieving the purposes for which it was collected. It is used to support Brighton Holistics central and legitimate activities (mainly teaching and research, administration, and health and safety). It is also used to support the internal procedures that underpin those activities (e.g. admitting, enrolling, monitoring, assessing and examining learners, compiling records and statistics, business intelligence and research to support the learners experience, administering tuition fees and administering certification. Information may also be collected and stored as required by, and in the manner prescribed by, law. The information collected will be sufficient but no more than is necessary for achieving these purposes, including compliance with the relevant law.

For the purposes of the Data Protection Act 2018, the data controller is Brighton Holistics. Brighton Holistics will endeavour to ensure that any personal information processed by it is as accurate as possible, kept up to date, and safeguarded from unauthorised disclosure.

Brighton Holistics may legitimately disclose certain types of personal information to external third parties in certain appropriate circumstances to comply with its legal and regulatory obligations. For example, these include: to examination boards; to verify any qualifications relied on, in references to prospective employers or to another school or university.

Data Protection Policy information

I understand that Brighton Holistics Data Protection Policy applies to all learners who process personal information on behalf of Brighton Holistics, and the Policy sets out the standards expected by Brighton Holistics in relation to the processing of personal information and safeguarding individuals’ rights and freedoms. As a learner of the school, I understand that I should only process personal information for an academic or related purpose to Brighton Holistics, with the knowledge and express consent of an appropriate Brighton Holistics employee. My processing of personal information should be limited to the minimum consistent with the achievement of academic objectives. I also understand that I may be asked to demonstrate compliance with its obligations if required under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Sharing Assessment information

I understand that Brighton Holistics may make available any piece of assessment work that I may undertake as a requirement of my programme of study to third parties where this is necessary for the conduct of proper academic business and quality assurance. This may include assessed items being stored by third parties and further reproduced to assess work submitted at a later date. Assessment items submitted may also be reproduced for comparison against work submitted by other institutes.

Sharing Disability information

It is Brighton Holistics policy to obtain your specific consent where you wish to disclose a disability or specific learning difficulty to Brighton Holistics. This is to enable Brighton Holistics to meet those support needs.

Sharing information in an emergency

I understand that if Brighton Holistics is seriously concerned about my safety or that of others it will discuss with me any external services, or third parties, including an emergency contact, parent, guardian or sponsor that it considers may need to be involved in any support I may require. Brighton Holistics may, in serious circumstances, contact external services or third parties, including an emergency contact, parent, guardian or sponsor without my permission to facilitate professional support (e.g. Doctor or emergency services) or personal support. Whenever possible, I will be informed if information is to be shared externally.

Attendance and monitoring

Brighton Holistics monitors the use of Brighton Holistics systems for two purposes. The first is to ensure that learners are engaging with their studies. The second is to identify learners who may need additional support.

Satisfying admissions and assessment conditions

This enrolment is subject to me satisfying any outstanding requirements resulting from the admissions process, previous assessment, or any other stipulations required by my programme of study.

Brighton Holistics Regulations & Policies

To check regularly Brighton Holistics policies, my learners portal and the email account I have provided as important information regarding my programme of study, tuition fees will be sent via these mediums.

Covid-19

Brighton Holistics is aiming to provide as much in-person teaching as prevailing conditions allow, blended with online activities that will develop active independent and group learning. We expect that as the public health situation evolves, the balance between in person and online education will evolve in response. Brighton Holistics will consult, appropriate and will communicate changes to you as soon as practicable so that you have the information you need to understand how a change may impact you and what steps you need to take next. Brighton Holistics remains committed to supporting you as you learn.

Your right to cancel the contract

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days of enrolment without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days of making the contract. Full details of your cancellation rights are given in your Terms & Conditions which you will receive as an acknowledgment of your enrolment.

Enrolment

I confirm I wish to enrol for an Academic qualification including independent learning modules. I understand that, by confirming below, fees become due and I agree to pay my fees in accordance with the schools fee payment policy.

Brighton Holistics Learners Agreement for Level 3, 4 & 5 Qualifications

Please read the following and sign the box on the final page to confirm you have read, understood and accept the Learners Agreement.

Brighton Holistics are committed to continually improving the quality of our courses. As well as what you can expect from us, this agreement also explains what Brighton Holistics expects of you. The quality of the services that we believe you are entitled to be balanced with the responsibilities placed on you.

When studying at Brighton Holistics this is what you can expect from us:

  • To receive course notes which will provide you with information about Brighton Holistics and its facilities.
  • An appraisal of the course syllabus showing key stages and criteria for examination.
  • That the teaching you receive will be evaluated. We will use feedback to enhance the quality of our teaching.
  • That we will work with you to help you develop your learning skills, recognising that this is an on-going process.
  • That we will provide a quality learning environment.
  • That we will provide you with access to appropriate resources to enable you to complete your studies or, in the event that we are unable to do so, direct you to where additional resources can be located.
  • That we will support you in your learning, to help you complete your studies.
  • That teaching team will be courteous, professional, punctual and efficient.
  • That we will answer all communication received as quickly as we can.
  • That we will mark all course work within the time frame given within the learner’s portal.
  • That we will seek to create and maintain an atmosphere and environment which is conducive to learning.
  • That we will respect your right to confidentiality.
  • That we will comply with all relevant legislation.


What we expect of you:

  • To be knowledgeable and regularly familiar with the Learners Charter. The Learners Charter is a reference point for our learners and team setting out our expectations, rights and responsibilities as members of the Brighton Holistics community. It gives an overview of how we work together to establish and maintain our unique learning and living culture. Our Learners Charter has been jointly developed by the Brighton Holistics and learners experiences whereby Brighton Holistics work in partnership with learners on the implementation of the Learners Charter and the learners voice. The learners charter is a live information base that supports independent learning and gives guidance and parameters of how you will work.
  • That you are familiar with the student enrolment declaration.
  • That you will take responsibility for your own learning, understanding that it is an independent framework and assist in creating and maintaining an atmosphere and environment which is conducive to learning for all.
  • If you require any help with learning, this needs to be declared. If you have an Educational Report Statement or an Educational Health Care Report/Plan, outlining your learning needs, this needs to be submitted to Brighton Holistics as soon as possible, so that the relevant help and support can be discussed and put in place. If we are not able to facilitate your requirements, we will work with you to help try to find a suitable training school which will be able to facilitate your requirements.
  • That you take responsibility for seeking any support you need.
  • That you use our facilities with respect and consideration for others.
  • That you will be courteous, efficient and behave in a professional manner towards the team and fellow learners.
  • That you will be punctual, arriving in good time for lessons or notify teaching team of any expected late arrival or absence. 100% attendance of the course is required.
  • That you will pay all fees and charges due when required.
  • Mobile Phones to be on silent and not used during teaching or therapy time
  • Adhere to Health, Safety and Hygiene procedure appropriate to the learning environment.
  • Remove all jewellery (except wedding rings).
  • Wear respectable clothes, therapy uniform is only necessary for assessment days, however, Jeans are not acceptable.
  • Make sure that hands are clean and that hair is off the shoulders and tied up.
  • Make sure that all nail polish and false nails have been removed and not worn during training.
  • Bring the required towels to each training/tutorial day.
  • Upload all coursework to the portfolio system as you are completing it and making sure that the portfolio system has been updated at least two days before each tutorial day with all completed work. If you have not completed the required amount of work, this could result in you not being able to attend the tutorial days. This will result in additional training days being required, this time will be chargeable to the learner.
  • It is the learner’s reasonability to practice what has been taught on the training/tutorial day. If this hasn’t been done and extra time is needed to recap on what has been taught and not practised this time will be chargeable to the learner.
  • Please also note that if you fail to log in to the system for 60 days, the system automatically removes you, and all uploaded work and grades will be deleted. It is the learners’ responsibility to log in and keep the system updated, not Brighton Holistics. Brighton Holistics will not be responsible for work which is lost or deleted.

    Course Timeframe – Level 3 Qualifications

    All coursework must be completed within the 10-month allotted timeframe. Courses can only be extended/deferred with the express permission of Brighton Holistics. You must apply via email to admin@brightonholistics.co.uk for an extension and documentation may be required from you for this. There will be a £180 administration fee for extending your course and this will extend your course for 2 months. The course must then be completed within the 12-month time frame. If you require additional time to complete your course, an extension will only be granted on medical grounds and medical documentation will be required. The course can then only be extended by a further 6 months to a total of 18 months from the course start date. In this case, you will be required to attend two additional training days at a cost of £145 per day and the learner will need to supply a model for each training session. If you do not complete the course within the 18-month maximum timeframe, you will need to rebook onto a new course and start the course from the beginning at full course cost price.

    Course Timeframe – Level 3 Upgrade Qualifications
    Coursework must be completed within the 6-month allotted timeframe. Courses can only be deferred with the express permission of Brighton Holistics. You must apply via email to admin@brightonholistics.co.uk for an extension and documentation may be required from you for this. There will be a £180 administration fee for extending your course. If the course overruns and goes over an 8-month period from the course start date you will be required to attend additional training and will be required to pay for this time. The course can only be extended to a maximum of 10 months from your original course start date. After this time, you will be required to start the course again at the full current course price.

    Course Timeframe – Level 4 and 5 Qualifications
    Coursework must be completed within the 6-month allotted timeframe. Courses can only be extended/deferred with the express permission of Brighton Holistics. You must apply in an email to admin@brightonholistics.co.uk for an extension and documentation may be required from you for this. There will be a £180 administration fee for extending your course. If the course overruns and goes over an 8-month period from the course start date you will be required to attend additional training and will be required to pay for this time. The course can only be extended to a maximum of 10 months from your original course start date. After this time, you will be required to start the course again at the full current course price.

    Course Timeframe – Level 3 Online Qualifications – 12 months duration 
    All coursework must be completed within the 12-month allotted timeframe. Courses can only be extended/deferred with the express permission of Brighton Holistics. You must apply via email to admin@brightonholistics.co.uk for an extension and documentation may be required from you for this. There will be a £180 administration fee for extending your course, and this will extend your course for two months. The course must then be completed within the 14 -month time frame. If you require additional time to complete your course, an extension will only be granted on medical grounds, and medical documentation will be required. The course can then only be extended by a further two months to a total of 14 months from the course start date.

    Courses with multiple therapy disciplines
    If your course is made up of different disciplines, (Massage Diploma, Complementary Therapy Diploma, Sports Massage Diploma) it’s the learner’s responsibility to choose the date which best suits you for each course.  Dates for each course must be chosen from the course listing shown on the Brighton Holistics website www.brightonholistics.co.uk

    Course Dates

    Brighton Holistics publish all the training dates for courses via the website www.brightonholistics.co.uk, it is the learner’s responsibility to make sure that they are available for all training days as every course requires 100% attendance. Please see above regards course time frames etc.

  • Brighton Holistics will not chase learners for coursework, this is the learner’s responsibility to timetable and schedule work. It is an independent learning structure and personal responsibility. Please read the welcome letter which can be found within the portfolio system for your course regarding penalties for the late surrender of coursework.
  • Answer all correspondence from Brighton Holistics regarding the course and supply information required on time.
  • You will be required to complete mandatory question papers for your, said therapy, therapy general knowledge, Health and Safety and Pathology and Anatomy and Physiology. These assessments are often multiple choice. Health and Safety, Pathology final assessment can be completed at home in your own time. If you are completing the Anatomy and Physiology final assessment for a level 3 qualification, such as Body massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy etc. this must be completed with an assessor observing your assessment and is completed online by using Zoom. Once you are ready to take your assessment, please complete the Assessment Request Form to schedule a time. Please click HERE for the form. If you are taking Anatomy and Physiology as a general knowledge subject this does not need to be witnessed by the assessor.
  • Please note that attending the assessment does not mean that you have passed, your assessment will be made up of three parts; practical, theory and observation. If you do not meet the required level, you will be asked to return for extra training and to take another assessment. There will be a fee of £125 for this additional assessment which will take place on the next planned assessment date. Please note that the assessment can be stopped at any time by the client/model or the assessor if either feels that the standards are not being met. The reasons for stopping the assessment will be explained and documented on the assessment paperwork. Some assessments will be recorded via the treatment room CCTV system.
  • Lost coursework is the reasonability of the learner, not Brighton Holistics.
