Originally from Ireland, I moved to London in 1987 to embark on a nursing career, after almost 20 years in the A&E nursing profession working as a senior sister and Emergency Nurse Practitioner, I felt I needed a change of pace from the ever demanding, highly charged daily environment. I wanted to continue in a career that involved caring for people and allowed me to make a difference both physically and emotionally, it was my love of looking after the “whole” that led me into a career as a holistic therapist over 4 years ago, following qualification and a lot of hard work I am now the proud owner of my own treatment centre based in Uckfield, and incorporate my medical background daily into my clients treatments.

I have known Jon for several years now and know him to be a excellent trainer, I’m very excited to be asked to train First Aid at Brighton Holistics and love the ethos of relaxed, interactive, informative and comprehensive training offered in wonderful surroundings.

I believe my extensive medical knowledge along with my practical holistic experience gives me a unique insight into highlighting the possible conditions that can develop during all complementary treatments, along with the extensive possibilities of injury or allergic reactions whilst in your care.

Brighton Holistics Reiki courses are fully accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists and meet the national standard laid down by the UK Reiki Council. The completion of these accredited Reiki courses will allow you to join the Federation of Holistic Therapists and also allow you to join the Complementary Natural Health Care Council (CNHC). The CNHC is the Government led self-Regulatory body which works in conjunction with General Medicine. To be able to work alongside a medical professional body you will need to be registered with the CNHC.

First Issue

This level 3 body massage course is a great foundation to start your career as a therapist. Massage is one of the most immediate, accessible and pleasurable complementary therapies. Massage therapy works by stimulating the body’s self-healing mechanism to function efficiently.

Brighton Holistics is now offering the new 7 module qualification, which is made up of the following:

During the course we over

• Business Practice for complementary therapies
• Principles and practice for complementary therapies
• Health, safety and hygiene for complementary therapies
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary
  therapies
• First Aid  for complementary
  therapies
• Provide body massage for complementary therapies
• Reflective practice for body massage

A significant amount of home study and background reading is necessary. Students should set aside approximately four to five hours per week to work on home assignments.

An extensive manual will be given to you for your course but also a recommended reading list is supplied at the beginning of the course.

This course is mapped to the National Standard and core Curriculum laid down by the General Council for Massage Therapists
